The HOLY GRAIL. It's an "AIMM" strat, which stands for American Independent Music Merchants, a co-op of many small stores that banded together to compete with the big mail order companies and chains. Because they were able to order in bulk, Fender made some special edition models that are only available through those merchants. This one was a special promotional run of only about 80 from what Fender tells me. You're looking at a 2002 American Fender Deluxe, Noiseless pickups with gold "lipstick tube" covers, and an ebony neck. Gold anodized pickgaurd with pop-in gold trem arm. Even the pot knobs and pickup selector switch knob is gold. It's a beauty. I use this for dress and formal gigs, and some jazz stuff because it has a dark tone to it, probably from the ebony neck and covered pickups combination. |
