HOT ROD. This is an American Deluxe 2000 with Noiseless pickups (neck and middle), and a DH-1 humbucker bridge pickup (whatever the hell that is, good luck getting info on it). The striping is my standard calling card, as is the dual eyehook strap locks. But what you can't see is under the hood: a 25 dB mid-boost circuit, a la Eric Clapton model. The bottom tone knob is really a mid-boost volume control. It bothered me that you either spend top dollar and get the Eric Clapton model with mid-boost, but that came with single-ply pickguard and old style tuners, or, you spend top dollar and get a Deluxe issue with modern features like locking tuners, etc. but you can't get a model with both. I wanted the mid boost on the best modern guitar, not some old '50's retro thing. I love this one, it's like having a tube screamer right at your fingertips to dial in and take you over the top. |
